Masters: SETI and the media

In 2003 I completed a research Masters in Science Communication at Central Queensland University, Rockhampton. The title was: SETI and the media: Improving science communication. My supervisors were Professor Lesley Warner and Dr Jacqui Ewart. The thesis considered how SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, had gained credibility in the public arena in spite of the nemesis of Unidentified Flying Objects. This success provides some evidence of effective science communication over many years of persistent effort. The thesis can be downloaded here. The Masters led to a doctorate. The title of that thesis is "Communicating Astrobiology in Public: A Study of Scientific Literacy".
